Where do the newlyweds and close family sit? +
The couple sits at the head of the main table facing the room, with the bride on the groom's right. The bride's mother and then her father usually sit beside the groom, and the groom's parents beside the bride, followed by the witnesses and close family. It is a custom rather than a rule — more relaxed weddings often skip it.
How do you seat divorced parents? +
Do not seat divorced parents next to each other. It works well to give each of them their own table with their own people, both the same distance from the head table so neither feels pushed aside. Treat a parent's new partner as an ordinary guest and seat them together.
